About Dr. Burnstine
Dr. Michael A Burnstine earned his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship in medicine at
Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed his ophthalmology residency at W.K. Kellogg Eye Center, at the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where he also served as chief resident in ophthalmology. He received his
fellowship training in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under Allen Putterman, M.D. at the
University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary and Michael Reese Hospital.
Dr. Burnstine is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, (ASOPRS). He is the recipient
of the Merrill Reeh pathology award and the Quickert thesis award from ASOPRS as well as the honor award from
the American Academy of Ophthalmolgy. He has published extensively in peer reviewed medical journals as well
as numerous book chapters in Oculoplastic text books.
Dr. Burnstine was previously the director of Ophthalmic
Plastic Surgery at Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California from 1996 to 2002 prior to joining
Eyesthetica. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Burnstine is an associate preceptor for the fellowship in Oculo-facial and Cosmetic Surgery at Eyesthetica
sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He is married to singer and songwriter Dianna Lorden and they have two children.
